Ultra-Shear 1/4" Diameter Solid Carbide Spiral Router Bits are made for routing grooves, dadoes, rabbets, and mortises with smaller routers, CNC's or horizontal routing machines.
Each bit has a 1/4" cutting diameter, 1/4" shank, and 2-flute solid carbide spiral geometry. We offer up-cut and down-cut versions so the cutting direction can be matched to the material and routing task.
Available cutting lengths include 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", and 1-3/4". The 3/4" and 1" versions have 2-1/2" overall lengths, the 1-1/4" version has a 3" overall length, and the 1-1/2" and 1-3/4" versions have 3-1/2" overall lengths.
Up-Cut or Down-Cut? Up-Cut bits pull the chips out of the kerf more effectively. They’re a great choice for dadoes, slotting and full-edge cutting in solid wood. Down-Cut bits slice down into the material so surface fibers don’t get lifted. This is particularly important on cabinet grade plywood and a great choice for rabbeting. A Down-Cut bit will give you a super clean edge in even the thinnest surface veneers.
