The 1/2" bearing-guided bit includes two bearings. One matches the cutting diameter, as expected. The second – a 5/8" bearing paired with the 1/2" cutter – matches the specifications of several popular commercial hinge template systems. You can upgrade to Ultra-Shear’s superior cutting geometry while continuing to use the jigs and templates you already own. In some cases, you can ditch the template guide bushing you're using now and use the bearing, instead.

All six bits feature down-shear cutting geometry, producing clean, crisp mortise edges — even in pre-finished doors and paper-thin veneers. No lifted fibers. No chipped edges.
