Ultra-Shear 1/4" Solid Carbide 3-Flute Spiral Flush Trim Bits are designed for pattern routing where a small cutter diameter and high cut count are useful. The 3-flute spiral geometry creates more cuts per minute, letting you either increase feed rate while maintaining cuts per inch or keep the same feed rate for more cuts per inch. The 1/4" diameter is suited to intricate patterns with small inside corners, and the 1/4" tall pilot bearing is matched to the cutter diameter for template-following work.

We offer up-cut and down-cut versions in 3/4", 1", and 1-1/4" cut lengths.  You can purchase each one individually or as a money saving 4-pack.  We also offer 3-piece sets of each cut length in either an up-cut and down-cut set.

Up-Cut or Down-Cut? Up-Cut bits pull the material toward the router…upward when using a hand-held router and downward when your router is in a table. It's the generally preferred approach for solid wood. Down-cut bits push the material away from the router. Usually not an issue when working with a hand-held router, but on a router table, down-cut bits require some care and attention. Their upside is a super-clean top surface on plywood…particularly plywood with thin face veneers.
