Absolute precision starts with your machinery setup…
Most framing squares are made from thick aluminum which lends itself to parallax errors. Aluminum is also not ideal for the rough and tumble use framing squares often get. You won't find that with our new Framing-Style Woodworking Square. They're milled from 3/32" solid stainless steel. With no additional cheeks, they lay dead flat on the workpiece and don't require squinting to line up a critical dimension.
As with all of our precision squares, the 2418 and 129 Woodworking Squares are milled to a perpendicularity of at least ±.0085⁰. That's four times truer than most common framing squares. You also won't have to damage your tool with a center punch to re-calibrate it either. We're so confident in this new square, we guarantee it.
All of the scales are laser engraved with high-contrast 1/16" graduations that don't wear off. You won't have to keep flipping the square until you find the right scale, they all work the same. And the scales are engraved within a tolerance of .004" total accumulated error, so your measurement is always going to be the same when you're switching between squares. One side of each square features a center scale on both the blade and tongue. The other side includes three handy conversion charts when you're working with decimals or millimeters.
Pair your Framing-Style Woodworking Square with Woodpeckers Stair Gauges for dead-accurate and repeatable angle marks. Simply align the Stair Gauges to your rise and run and instantly lay out a set of stair stringers. Or, fully seat both Stair Gauges on the blade or tongue and reference the edge for 90⁰ marks.
Woodpeckers Framing-Style Woodworking Squares are available in two sizes. The larger #2418 square is 24" x 18". That's 2" longer than traditional framing squares, which adds a couple unique features found on only the highest quality framing squares. First, 18" x 24" forms a perfect 3-4-5 right triangle. Handy when checking large layouts. And with 16" from the inside of the blade, rather than the outside, you have a hard reference when checking stud spacing instead of trying to eyeball the square to the edge of your stock. The blade on the 2418 is precisely milled at 2", with the tongue precisely 1-1/2". The smaller #129 square also forms a perfect 3-4-5 right triangle with an 1-1/2" wide blade and 1" tongue.
Like all Woodpeckers products, the Framing-Style Woodworking Squares are precisely machined and carefully inspected right here in Strongsville, OH (just south of Cleveland).
