AutoScale Miter Sled

Description
AutoScale™ Miter Sled
Let’s take a closer look at some of the features , starting with the fence pivot. On all other miter sleds, once you adjust away from 90°, the scale (if it has one) is no longer correct. The end-point moves and you’re no longer calibrated to your saw blade. But the pivot on the AutoScale adjusts automatically as you change the angle, keeping the scale perfectly calibrated throughout the entire adjustment range…18" at 0° is still 18" at 60°. Imagine confidently knowing the laser-engraved scale on the fence is as accurate as any scale in your shop. It’s a real time saver.
We use our CNC mills to perfectly locate stops for common miter angles. Just depress the pin while moving the fence into position and you’ll lock in at the perfect angle. No test cuts, no gaps, just perfect miters.
To complement the dialed-in accuracy of the protractor, the micro-adjustable flip-stop has a section that nests back into the face of the fence. This prevents sharp mitered ends from lifting the stop out of position.
While miter cuts are crucial, most woodworkers first consider a miter sled because they need a better way to handle wide cross-cuts. To make sure the AutoScale delivers flawless wide panel cuts we put two T-slot washers on the front end of the runner, not just one. This helps keep the sled aligned when you’re using the full 24" cross-cut capacity. If your saw doesn’t have a T-slot, the washers come off in seconds.
The miter bar has a series of 5 leaf springs along the edge that keep it snug in any miter slot, whether it is perfectly sized, poorly machined or old and worn. If the slot is inconsistent, the springs expand or compress to keep the bar aligned and the feed resistance uniform…no tight spots or wiggly areas. If your saw has a T-track miter slot, the miter bar has two T-washers, not just one, giving you extra support when making wide cross-cuts. No T-track? No problem. The T-washers come off with simple counter-sunk screws. Bottom line? If your miter slot is anywhere close to 3/8" x 3/4" the miter bar will fit. The leaf spring feature easily accommodates miter slots from .742" to .765" wide.
We also added a shelf at the end of the fence extension so long boards are fully supported throughout the cut.
The optional Drop Zone table fits beside your AutoScale to catch your offcuts. The nylon locating bars expand so you can lock the Drop Zone in place on your table saw. If you need multiples of very short pieces, pop up one of the StealthStops just ahead of the blade and you can register against the stop and safely cut pieces just fractions of an inch long. The Drop Zone is symmetrical to work on either side of the blade.
You can get either a right or left AutoScale and add the Drop Zone or build your own catch table. Or, get the bundle with both AutoScales and a Drop Zone and save some money over individual prices.
