Ultra-Shear Clearing Pattern Router Bits - Carbide Head - 8MM Shank
American Made Quality at Factory Direct Pricing!
The 16mm Clearing & Pattern Bit pairs well with the Shaper Origin spindle. It's big enough to get the job done but doesn't tax the motor unnecessarily. If your pocketing work is smaller, the 12mm version prevents you from having to do a tool change in the middle of a process.
We added the pattern bearing to increase the versatility of the bits. Dado clean-out is a perfect example of a job these bits perform flawlessly. Ride the bearing along the sidewall of a dado while you cut a perfectly flat bottom and square corner. Or maybe you have an exposed bore from a Forstner bit and you would like to eliminate the mark from the center spur.
Ultra-Shear borrowed a technique from metal-working tool companies to build bottom clearing bits unlike anything else on the market. Solid carbide bits with cutting diameters greater than the shank involve grinding away immense amounts of carbide which is both time consuming and wasteful. Carbide tipped bits lack the shear-cutting efficiency of spiral geometry. Ultra-Shear brazes a solid carbide head onto an economical steel shank, then turns the entire assembly as one unit, delivering the perfect concentricity and superior cutting geometry found in solid carbide spirals. This hybrid approach opens up a world of opportunities for unique, high-performance designs while keeping prices competitive.
The 16mm bit has a cut length of 16mm (.630"). The 12mm bit has a cut length of 10mm (.394"). Like all Woodpeckers products, Ultra-Shear Clearing & Pattern Bits are made right here in our Strongsville, Ohio, facility (just south of Cleveland) and sold directly to the woodworker. The days of paying extra for middle-man markups are over. Buy direct from the manufacturer and pocket the savings. We’re confident you won’t find an American-made bit of similar design for less.
